Separation material for MCI GEL SCK01 is based on a polystyrene with
sulfonic acid functionality. Standard monovalent cations like lithium, sodium,
ammonium and potassium are resolved using a diluted nitric acid as an eluent. Mono-,
di- and trimethylamine can also be separated with the same eluent. Divalent cations
and transition metal cations will not elute from the column when the same conditions are
applied because selectivity of these elements are much larger. By adding a
complexing reagent such as ethylene diamine into a tartaric acid solution, alkaline earth
metals like magnesium, calcium and manganese, zinc, cobalt and cadmium are efficiently
resolved.
